Show veterans Mister Redesigned and Robin Robinett capture a second APHA world championship.

A unanimous world title in Amateur Aged Geldings gives Robin Robinett her second title of the day.

With a look of focus matched by her horse, Robin Robinett led Mister Redesigned into the Amateur Aged Geldings class and emerged a unanimous world champion. The veteran handler and horse turned on their talent and poise to capture the judges’ attention, giving “Doc” his second world championship in two years. A bubbly-and-beaming Robin shared her reaction after the class with the Paint Horse Journal.

Q: This was your second world championship today, and it was unanimous. Congratulations! How was Doc for you in the pen?

Robin: He was actually really good. He’s a lot of fun to show. He gets really pumped. He loves to show, he loves his job.

Q: How long have you had him?

Robin:  We bought him last year from Joe and Nancy Berry here at the World Show. We’ve had him a year.

Q: Have you shown him much?

Robin: Yes. I believe he is leading the nation in the Aged Geldings and the Amateur Geldings.

Q: What is Doc’s best attribute?

Robin: He is just a puppy dog. He gets pumped in the arena, but in his stall he is very, very quiet. He just wants to be loved.

Q: What is Doc’s favorite treat?

Robin: He likes mints.

Q: Do you have any tricks to get his ears forward in the arena?

Robin: Not really, because he loves his job. You just present him—he knows when people are looking at him, and he’s spot on.

Q: Did your trainer, JT Mitchell, give you any advice before you went in the arena today?

Robin: Just to stay calm.

Q: Anything else you’d like to tell us?

Robin: I’m still floating. My saying is, “I’m so bubbly I feel like Sierra Mist inside.”
