Amateur Weanling Stallions

Story & Photo by Laura Stevens | Paint Horse Journal | November 4, 2011

Robin Robinett won the top prize for Amateur Weanling Stallions with Built Execute Tuff on November 4.

Robin Robinett builds momentum with third world show win, this time with Built Execute Tuff.

It’s been a great APHA World Championship Show already for Robin Robinett—she clinched wins with This Kids Classic in Amateur 2-Year-Old Geldings and Mister Redesigned in Amateur Aged Geldings. Robin added a third buckle to her collection when she and Built Execute Tuff emerged from Amateur Weanling Stallions with the victory. The Paint Horse Journal spoke to Robin after her three-peat.

Q: Congratulations, Robin! Tell us about your win with “Tuff.”

Robin: Just great! He’s actually a double-papered Quarter-Paint Horse by Execute and out of Phenomenal Ms, who’s a multiple (AQHA) world champion. He’s just a showy colt.

Q: How did you come to own Tuff?

Robin: I purchased him from Rita Crundwell. J.T. Mitchell went and looked at him and then we went and looked at him and decided that was going to be our colt for this year.

Q: What is your favorite thing about the colt?

Robin: One, he’s double registered and two, he is the epitome of what I think a good, young breeding stallion could bring into the Paint industry. He’s a showy colt, very balanced. Good hocked, great necked, great back.

Q: Have you and Tuff shown together before?

Robin: This is only the second time he’s ever been shown. He was shown yesterday in the slot classes and won the slot classes so it just continues. It’s been a great day.

Q: What is Tuff’s personality like?

Robin: He’s very quiet. He’s extremely quiet and loveable.

Q: What did you think right before you entered the show pen?

Robin: Just clear my head and show the colt.

Q: Who would you like to thank for supporting you?

Robin: I’d like to really thank Mitchell Show Horses and my husband, Larry, for everything they’ve done for me.

Q: You’ve had a busy schedule. Do you have time to celebrate?

Robin: Actually, I’ve got a couple more to show today but I’ll probably have a few cocktails after we get done!
